Update

This week has been a real roller-coaster! On monday we started shooting our live action, it took a whole day but we were pretty stoked with the result of the footage.
In the middle of shooting we weren't completely happy with the footage, Hamish's camera wasn't able to pick up the light on the left side of the room, having no good source of white light like the right side which was basically a huge window with sunlight pouring in. But school let us know that they had 70D cameras for us to use and Oscar bicycled to school and picked it up for us. Poor sausage was out of breath when he came back! Which we took to our advantage to shoot the distress footage!

We took so many shots, the most being over 35 takes for the same shot. We had the left wall of the room covered in white sheets and mirrors for a more balanced lighting of the room. It was also incredibly hot in that room!! Everyone did a great job! GO JA! HOT!

Later this week we had a small meeting with the tutor. The feedback was good, they asked us to work a bit more on the timing, and once again to trim down the narration a notch. The storyboard needs a few more thumbnails developing the spirit world. It would be ideal to add Joanne's thumbnails where the creatures turn around and stare at the particle character. Also we will need to update our animatic accordingly.
The other thing that came out of this meeting is the possible integration of the ipod in the spirit realm, and by extension of technology. Joanne, Adrian and I were discussing the idea of having the tree wrapped around the ipod in the central island, and all the pretty lights hovering like jellyfish and the spirit's manes would glitch like holograms when the ipod batteries die. Adrian has added a fountain under the central island in her newest visual research and as the world glitches, the fountain could stop and reveal a plinth of wires under the ipod, the roots of the tree entangled in them.
